In 2017, the UN and the World Bank requested DCAF's support in their planned study on the prevention of violent conflict. DCAF, as subject matter experts, contributed its knowledge of how SSR has supported prevention. DCAF provided the UN and the World Bank with a short paper setting out examples and evidence of how SSR has supported the prevention of conflict. This enabled the UN and the World Bank to include examples of how SSR has contributed to prevention in their report.

Mandate outputs / products
A short paper (15 pages) setting out examples suitable for inclusion in the UN-World Bank report.
Outcome objectives of mandate
- Creating Knowledge Products: The expected outcome of this process is the inclusion of relevant evidence of the contribution of SSR to prevention, including DCAF efforts, in one of the premier development publications of the year. This will strengthen the relevance and relationship between the SSR agenda and that of prevention-focused activities.
