ISSAT is a Division of the Geneva Centre for Democratic Control of Armed Forces (DCAF).
There are important synergies between ISSAT and other DCAF Divisions. ISSAT benefits from core funding from DCAF's central budget, DCAF's administrative support, as well as access to DCAF's personnel, expertise and research capability. DCAF, in turn, benefits from ISSAT's operational expertise and experience, good practice gathering, and training capacity.
DCAF's Foundation Council and Directing Board also provide additional levels of oversight. For example, DCAF's Directing Board reviews the project summaries sent out to all ISSAT Governing Board members in advance of each mission, and the Director of DCAF signs expenditure requests in order to ensure that they are consistent with DCAF guidelines.
