ISSAT offers its Members' field and headquarters staff targeted, project-specific support in the areas of Assessment, Programme Design, Implementation and Monitoring & Evaluation. Such support is provided primarily through short-term, in-country deployment of core staff and expert roster members.
ISSAT offers support to its Members and its partners in the Association for Security Sector Reform Education and Training (ASSET) to conduct training as a core instrument for developing field staff capacity and awareness. Through ISSAT's co-learning training approach, ISSAT supports its Members and ASSET partners to deliver basic and specialised training.
As part of Advocacy and Outreach, ISSAT aims to raise awareness across Members’ departments and agencies, broaden knowledge on SSR lessons learned and encourage the use of good practice across the international community.
ISSAT knowledge services support the achievement of the objectives of the other core services by fostering a learning process for security and justice sectors practitioners, enabling the sharing and synthesis of practical experiences and good practices, and facilitating productive dialogue on SSR issues. These services include both face-to-face practitioner meetings and an on-line Community of Practice where members can access resources and engage with their colleagues from anywhere in the world.
