ASSET

The Association for Security Sector Reform Education and Training (ASSET) is an open and voluntary association of organisations and institutions engaged in Security Sector Reform (SSR) education and training. It was founded in March 2008 and currently includes thrity-four members.

ASSET aims to support the development and delivery of education and training courses and teaching material in order to meet the increasing need for highly qualified SSR practitioners, planners, trainers and policymakers. This shall be achieved through encouraging coordination, building coherence and strengthening the capacity of member institutions and organisations to provide quality, skills-based training and education.

Through encouraging the delivery of high quality SSR education and training, ASSET supports the development of SSR capacity within governments, donors, security sector institutions, parliaments, non-governmental organisations and international/regional organisations. Through this support ASSET aims to drive up the standards, coverage and availability of SSR training, as well as increase the effectiveness of SSR policymaking and programming.

The ASSET Secretariat is currently hosted by ISSAT. For learn more about ASSET or get information on the various trainings offered by its members, visit its website at http://asset-ssr.org
