United Nations Office for Disarmament Affairs (UNODA)

UNODA was established in January 1998 as the Department for Disarmament Affairs which part of the Secretary-General’s programme for reform in accordance with his report to the General Assembly (A/51/950). It was originally established in 1982 upon the recommendation of the General Assembly's second special session on disarmament (SSOD II). In 1992, its name was changed to Centre for Disarmament Affairs, under the Department of Political Affairs. At the end of 1997, it was renamed Department for Disarmament Affairs and in 2007, it became the United Nations Office for Disarmament Affairs.

Roster Call for Experts for UNLIREC (Regional Office for Disarmament Affairs)

United Nations Office for Disarmament Affairs - Regional Centre for Peace, Disarmament and Development in Latin America and the Caribbean (UNLIREC)

UNLIREC provides small arms control and disarmament expertise to the 33  States  of Latin American and the Caribbean through capacity-building, outreach and advocacy and technical assistance initiatives. 

Vacancy Announcement (Roster: 1 June 2012 – 31 December 2013) This vacancy announcement is for a pool of experts and not for a specific post. Secondments from sister agencies will be taken into consideration.

Experts are sought in the following areas:

1. Firearms, Ammunition and Explosives Stockpile Management and Destruction

2. Legal Assistance

3. Law Enforcement Training

4. Research and Policy Development

Post title - Individual Contractor(s) – full-time and part-time
