Elisabeth Ibscher is the Head of Professional Development and Training in DCAF’s International Security Sector Advisory Team (ISSAT) and a member of ISSAT’s Management Team.
Elisabeth’s role is to enhance ISSAT’s multilateral and bilateral Governing Board Members’ ability to identify, develop and deploy strategic Security and Justice advisors. Together with her team and colleagues from across ISSAT, Elisabeth supports Governing Board Members in strengthening their systems and provides them with high-quality training opportunities.
Elisabeth served many years in field missions, including with the NATO-led international peacekeeping force in Kosovo and the ceasefire monitoring mission in Sudan’s Nuba Mountains. She helped to develop the capacities of peace infrastructures in Nepal in the framework of the German Civil Peace Service and assisted the Government of South Sudan to establish Councils of Traditional Leaders as platforms for conflict resolution as Human Security Advisor of the Swiss FDFA. Prior to joining DCAF-ISSAT in July 2020, she headed International Partnerships and Learning at PeaceNexus Foundation.
Elisabeth has degrees in education, journalism and development, and trained as a mediator and organisational coach. She is currently completing her MA in Mediation and Conflict Management at Viadrina University, Frankfurt an der Oder.
Elisabeth speaks English, German, French, Italian and some Nepali.
