The reading assignment for this module is "Empowering Local Peacebuilders: Strategies for Effective Engagement of Local Actors in Peace Operations", from the U.S. Institute of Peace.
As this module has demonstrated, advisors should build local capacity while also cultivating the best environment for positive results. This publication gives tried and true approaches to harness the capacity inherently present environment in the local environment. The collection of case studies offers an approach which is respectful and enables the trouble shooting and/or tweaking of existing procedures rather than starting over and implementing the “donor’s way” instead.
"An intervention will often be most successful when it involves making incremental adjustments within existing systems."
Here you can find an obligatory article that focuses on how to use existing capacity and build further local capacity. Read it carefully, as it might come back in the assessment at the end of the course
