The International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) is seeking to appoint a Research Analyst within the Conflict, Security and Development Programme (CSDP). The CSDP team is responsible for the study of armed conflict and its interrelationship with socio-economic development. The programme’s work underpins the production of the Institute’s main conflict-related publications, the IISS Armed Conflict Survey, the Armed Conflict Database (ACD) and the Chart of Conflict.
The appointee will have knowledge of the Central African region, with conflict expertise on at least two of the following: the Central African Republic, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Sudan and South Sudan. Expertise on the Horn of Africa, and Somalia in particular, is welcome.
The appointee’s main responsibility would be to contribute to the Armed Conflict Database, writing timelines and analytical reports, as well as compiling fatality and displacement data on the assigned conflicts.
