Adam Bycroft

Senior SSR Advisor

Adam Bycroft is a Senior Security Sector Reform Advisor in ISSAT's Professional Development and Training Team.  In this role he provides strategic and technical advice and guidance in the areas of Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice to ISSAT’s bilateral and multilateral Governing Board Members.

Adam commenced his career in Queensland, Australia as a Police Officer serving as a Detective in State Crime Operations Command, focussing on Vulnerable Persons Protection, investigating Organised Paedophilia and Child Sexual Abuse. Adam later joined the Australian Federal Police, serving as a Federal Agent in both Serious and Organised Crime and People Smuggling teams. He completed several international deployment postings as a member of the International Operations Group, including team leadership roles within the Timor-Leste Police Development Program (TLDPD) and the Regional Assistance Mission to The Solomon Islands (RAMSI). Adam also worked at the School of Peacekeeping Operations in Australia as a pre-deployment instructor.

Since his re-location to Europe, he has held Law Enforcement Advisory roles with the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), and the United Nations, involving Security Sector Reform activities in Ghana, Kenya, Uganda, Ethiopia, and Somalia.

Adam holds a Master of Terrorism and Security Studies from Charles Sturt University Australia, and a Bachelor of Policing (Investigations). Adam is passionate about Human Security and the protection of vulnerable populations.
