ASA proposes to help decision-makers (development agencies, multilateral organisations, bilateral partners, NGOs, foundations, medias, economic actors, …) to better grasp sociological realities and societal dynamics within which security and development governance in Africa is rooted.
From 21st October 2016, ASA will produce every week, a new “institutional mapping” presented both on textual and visual manner (computer graphics), disseminated in French or in English via emails and social networks and readily accessible on the ASSN web site.
Mobilizing a network of African experts with daily close links with grassroots, ASA’s expertise highlight the influence of so-called informal standards and practices as well as the interactions of African states with non-state actors and local networks, through the following six poles:
- Traditional authorities, community memberships and social solidarities / exclusions;
- Religions and religious networks ;
- Gender;
- Informal security and justice;
- Social change and emerging stakeholders;
- Africa and transnational networks.
By innovating through the use of indicators most often disregarded and by the production of original documents, the ASA’s objective is threefold:
- Support security and development policies formulation, based on a deeper understanding of local realities and trends in-depth structuring African societies;
- Connect decision-makers with a new community of African experts.
- Reinforce with new parameters watchdog and early warning systems, crisis prevention and conflict resolution.
