Physical controls monitor and control the environment of the workplace and the environment in which police officers operate. Examples are doors, locks, heating and air conditioning, smoke and fire alarms, fire suppression systems, cameras, fencing and security guards. Separating workplaces and networks into functional areas is also a physical control.
