For more than 30 years, Physicians for Human Rights (PHR) has used science and the uniquely credible voices of medical professionals to document and call attention to severe human rights violations around the world. PHR, which shared in the 1997 Nobel Peace Prize for its work to end the scourge of landmines, uses its investigations and expertise to advocate for persecuted health workers and facilities under attack, prevent torture and sexual violence, document mass atrocities, and hold those who violate human rights accountable. PHR is poised for even greater growth and impact. As part of that strategy, we are excited to be recruiting committed activists with a passion for human rights.
One such role will be the Kenya Head of Office. This position is responsible for the advancement of the Program on Sexual Violence in Conflict Zones (the “Program”) in Kenya. S/he represents PHR to government, local, and international partners; develops and manages partnerships with individual and institutional collaborators; conducts advocacy; and coordinates and leads forensic trainings to enhance collaboration among medical, law enforcement, and legal personnel, with the goal of supporting prosecutions and accountability for sexual violence in Kenya.
PHR’s Kenya Head of Office will work in collaboration with the US-based teams to create awareness of and accountability for sexual violence in Kenya that leads to impactful action.
