La'o Hamutuk
La’o Hamutuk (“Walking Together” in English) is a Timor-Leste non-governmental organization which analyses and reports on development processes, including the policies and programs of international institutions and of Timor-Leste’s government. La’o Hamutuk facilitates communication between people in Timor-Leste and Timorese and international decision makers, as well as establishing solidarity links with other countries to explore alternative development models. We believe that the full participation of all communities in the country’s development decision making can help ensure that the people of Timor-Leste will benefit the most from their resources, and work towards providing information and space to allow them to understand participate in the development process.
Judicial System Monitoring Program (JSMP)
The Judicial System Monitoring Program (JSMP) was established in 2001 in Díli, Timor-Leste to monitor the processes of the Ad Hoc Human Rights Tribunal in Indonesia and the Special Panels for Serious Crimes in Timor-Leste.
JSMP now exists as a Timorese led not-for-profit organization working to improve the judicial and legislative systems in Timor-Leste.
Associacaon Chega Ba Ita
Since 2010, we have promoted the findings and recommendations of the CAVR using the slogan, “Chega Ba Ita.” This refers to our deep conviction that the people of Timor-Leste has had enough of conflict and injustice, and need to genuinely implement the recommendations of the truth commission to ensure that these violations are never repeated. The saying “Chega Ba Ita” underlines our belief that the CAVR report was written based on the experiences and voices of the people, for the people. It is not a document that should be shelved and forgotten. It is a living document to be understood, debated, and re-invented for generations to come.
Associacaon Chega Ba Ita (ACBIT) aims to promote the values and principles that served as foundation for the work of the CAVR, including human rights, justice and reconciliation. We are committed to bringing the lessons of the past to guide our decisions and choices as individuals and as a society, working towards the fulfillment of the promise for a better future for all.
