Statement by the President of the Security Council

At the 6630th meeting of the Security Council, held on 12 October 2011, in connection with the Council’s consideration of the item entitled “Maintenance of international peace and security”, the President of the Security Council released a statement on behalf of the Council in regards to SSR.

The Reform Plan for the HNP builds on earlier work to provide a comprehensive strategic management plan for the reform and development of the HNP while responding to the requests from the Security Council, including: the anticipated size of the HNP; the standards of quality which HNP officers are to meet; an implementation timetable; and specification of the resources required for its implementation.

Report of the Secretary-General on the Situation in Burundi

The present report covers the period between November 2017 and January 2018 and provides details on recent political and socioeconomic developments, the security and humanitarian situations, and the state of human rights and judicial cooperation in Burundi. UN Security Council Resolution 2467 (2019). Women and peace and security: Sexual violence in conflict

Adopted by the Security Council at its 8514th meeting, on 23 April 2019. 

The Security Council called upon warring parties around the globe to implement concrete commitments to fight what many speakers described as the heinous, barbaric and all-too-often silent phenomenon of sexual violence during conflict. Adopting resolution 2467 (2019), the Council reiterated its demand for the complete cessation of all acts of sexual violence by all parties to armed conflict.

Success of Central African Republic Peace Agreement Dependent on Parties Ending Violence, Engaging in Dialogue, Special Representative Tells Security Council. While the 6 February signing of the Political Agreement for Peace and Reconciliation in the Central African Republic gave rise to much hope for an end to the decades-long crisis in that country, the accord’s ultimate success will depend on the parties’ willingness to end the violence and engage in dialogue.
