Geneva Centre for the Democratic Control of Armed Forces

ISSAT is a Division of the Geneva Centre for the Democratic Control of Armed Forces (DCAF).

There are important synergies between ISSAT and other DCAF Divisions. ISSAT benefits from DCAF's administrative and logistical support, as well as access to DCAF's personnel, expertise and research capability. DCAF, in turn, benefits from ISSAT's operational expertise and experience, good practice gathering, and training capacity.

DCAF's Foundation Council and Directing Board also provide additional levels of oversight. For example, ISSAT’s Governing Board is a committee of and reports to DCAF’s Foundation Council; while the Head of ISSAT is a member of the DCAF Directing Board and reports to the DCAF Director, as well as to the ISSAT Governing Board. The Director of DCAF oversees all ISSAT expenditure requests in order to ensure that they are consistent with DCAF guidelines.
