The cooperation between Austria and Armenia started in 2013 with one training event (Introduction to Security Sector Reform - Level 1 training & High level SSR sensitisation). The SSR workshop 2015 is a follow-up event of the SSR Level 1 Training Course. Preparatory meetings took place in Vienna in May and July 2015.
Organized jointly by the OSCE office Yerevan and the Government of Armenia, supported by Austrian MOD. Further partners are ISSAT and the Belgrade Centre for Security Policy. The contents of the course were based on the request of the Host nation. Workshop Moderator will be appointed by OSCE office Yerevan / MoD ARM. Course language will be English with simultaneous translation English – Armenian (OSCE Office Yerevan). Logistics and administration will be responsibility of the OSCE Office in Yerevan.
Outcome objectives of mandate
Main objectives of the course include:
- Better understanding of the concept and evolution of SSR, including actors, concepts and principles;
- Understand the political nature of SSR and the challenges faced when ‘supporting’ SSR processes in conflict affected or fragile states;
- Develop the basic skills required to support SSR in post-conflict environments; and,
- Develop the basic skills required to coordinate SSR support programmes
