SSR & VE course
For 2018 it was foreseen to develop and execute the SSR&VE pilot in the Hague.
The prep phase was done, however due to time constraints within ISSAT the pilot foreseen for 2018 was replaced to 4-8 February 2019.
The costs for this pilot were budgeted at around 30.000 for 2018. During a meeting with Victoria Walker the Dutch MFA requested if we could use that amount in 2019 for the pilot, since it was replaced. Ms. Walker shared with us that this is possible if we write up this new mandate.
Support to Expertise France
Expertise France (EF) has been confirmed as France’s main provider of public expertise in international cooperation based on the “security and development nexus (continuum)” and the French government has given EF the authority to mobilize expertise from all line ministries, specifically for projects funded by EU instruments.
ISSAT support was requested by EF to identify the strategic positioning of the public agency with regard to SSR and to offer operational recommendations, including how to incorporate an SSR lens to planning what are currently "train and equip" programmes.
Table top exercise for the IHEDN ESDC basic Course
The IHEDN requested DCAF-ISSAT to facilitate a table top exercise on the last day of the course. The exercise was based on the context of Guinea Conakry and designed to transfer knowledge gained from previous conferences into practical team work. It enabled participants to have a better ownership of the complexity of SSR in practice.
